“Books are easily destroyed. But words will live as long as people can remember them.”
Woah, I’m out of words and I don’t know if this book review will give any justification on how this book is a total BOOM.
Unravel me is the second installment of Mafi’s Shatter Me series, which is about Juliette and her road on knowing herself more. In this book, Juliette, a girl once meek and helpless, learned to know more and to control herself. She met people like her, with powers, and they helped her to use her power against The Reestablishment. However, in the process of training, she discovered secrets and pasts which affected her in so many ways. She struggles to be better even if she’s design for destruction and death.
“Time goes on even when we do not.”
This book is like a secret book which contains all those missing piece and all the secrets in this Shatter Me series. This book is an action-packed-romance and fast-paced combined. I love how every now and then, a secret unfolds which will connect the missing link from the past. It’s like connect the dots and that’s when the whole story takes place. I love as well that this story is far from predictable. I mean all the revelations shocked me and I think that’s one thing that make this book a page-turner as well. This book doesn’t focus only on Juliette but to other characters as well such as Kenji, Adam, Warner and the rebel group Omega Point.
“Hope. It’s like a drop of honey, a field of tulips blooming in the springtime. It’s a fresh rain, a whispered promise, a cloudless sky, the perfect punctuation mark at the end of a sentence. And it’s the only thing in the world keeping me afloat.”
I honestly loved the book! It’s easy to read this one especially now that I get used to with Mafi’s writing style. The scenes, especially the war scenes are described vividly. The characters are hard not to love and hate, and this is just the right amount of action I’m looking for. Aside from some of the exaggerating parts, I found this book absolutely wonderful. By the way, I am now torn as to whether I should be Team Warner or Team Adam.. But the humor of Kenji is palpable and hard to resist, so I think Kenji it is. ❤
