synopsis1

When Warren has the opportunity to live with a female roommate, he instantly agrees. It could be an exciting change.

Or maybe not.

Especially when that roommate is the cold and seemingly calculating Bridgette. Tensions run high and tempers flare as the two can hardly stand to be in the same room together. But Warren has a theory about Bridgette: anyone who can hate with that much passion should also have the capability to love with that much passion. And he wants to be the one to test this theory.

Will Bridgette find it in herself to warm her heart to Warren and finally learn to love?

Maybe.

Maybe not.

“The only difference between falling in love and being in love is that your heart already knows how you feel, but your mind is too stubborn to admit it.”

Another Hoover’s work that totally didn’t disappoint me. It’s a novella but it seems that it’s more of a short story because of it’s fast-paced, heart-catching-technique and an absolute swooning-experience.

“I need her to admit that there’s an actual heart inside her chest. And that sometimes it beats for me.”

This book is about Warren’s side, in connection to the Maybe Someday. (For those who haven’t read Maybe Someday yet, here’s my book review for that!) It reveals how Warren and Bridgette ends up having a relationship like cat and dog. It also gave a little peek on why Bridgette’s past and why she seemed a little mean to everyone around her. The book is mainly revolving around Warren’s struggle, as well as Bridgette’s, to figure out what they really wants, and if they are brave enough to fight and stand for what they chose.

“She’s nothing I’ve ever wanted in a girl. And absolutely everything I need.”

Well, it’s a typical Colleen Hoover story. There’s this love story where you’ll be left sitting on the edge of your seat. The characters are well described, as usual. I really like that I was enlightened as to why Bridgette turned out to be what she is right now. And I admire her for her strength and capacity to see that there is beauty around us. As for the writing style, it’s easy to get used to and be hooked. Hoover used a not-so-deep words and the flow is smooth and it would escape in your notice that slowly, you had finished the entire book. The sequence of events on the other hand, are just right. However, there are parts that surprised me a bit, and it made me keep going until the end of the book.

“Im convinced that hell has an intercom system and the buzz of my alarm clock is played at full volume on repeat against the screams of all the lost souls.”

Okay, so this cute love-and-quarrel story of Warren and Bridgette is a fast-paced and light fluffy story. It taught its readers that when you love someone, you don’t get to love the good parts only. Loving someone is loving the whole package as well- the good and bad parts, the past, present and future, and the high and low points as well. And of course, to love and be loved took courage- so it’s only the brave ones who usually wins at this thing called love.

F4STAR
